How to play blackjack

Blackjack is one of the most addictive games at the casino. Even though it is based on probability like Roulette if you know how to play Blackjack correctly you can increase your chances of winning. The object of the game is quite simple. Your ultimate goal is to aim for a card total of 21 however as long as you beat the dealer (17 or above in most cases) you will be okay as long as none of the other players have Blackjack (21). Below you can find some types that should help you learn how to play Blackjack more effectively.

  • First you need to know what the cards are worth: Face cards are worth 10, Aces are worth both 1 and 11 and all of the other cards are worth whatever their number is.
  • Know what to expect from the dealer by their face card: If the dealers face card is an ace you will want to take insurance before the hand begins to insure that you will not lose money.
  • Know the rules the dealer is playing by: The dealer is set to having to play by certain rules. The main thing you need to remember that the dealer must draw a card if his hand is under 16. So if you have a hand that is under 16 you must take a hit to have a chance of winning because if not you will have a good chance of losing. Of course there is the possibility that the dealer will bust but in most people’s experience this is not something that seems to happen all of the time.
  • When to split: If you have aces in your hand that you were dealt with you should split them. However, if you have tens in your hand many people who have been playing Blackjack for a while do not advice players to split them up. Instead it is said that you will have a better chance if you just stand at 20.
